Harness Central: The Caller's Box

Harness Central

The Caller's Box

The Caller’s Box is another unique feature which Harness Central has created for the public’s viewing.

Harness Central has been able to set up seven of harness racing’s leading commentators which will list three horses to follow each week.

David Fowler (QLD), Dan Mielicki (VIC), Craig Rail (VIC), Mark McNamara (NSW), Jim Jacques (SA), Lachlan McIntosh (VIC) and Wes Cameron (WA) are all apart of this new initiative which has been started.

A couple of sentences or just a quick comment will be listed underneath the horses which they have selected to follow.

Again this page will be updated regularly but I do advise that you view The Caller’s Box between Sunday and Tuesday and most likely by Wednesday every commentator will have listed their three horses to follow.

Wes Cameron (WA)

Spirit Of Navajo - Had her first run in six weeks when finishing unplaced behind Shining Key in a short course stand last Friday. Loomed up three wide at the bell but peaked and duly faded. Raced well when last in work and with that run under her belt should be hard to beat in her upcoming starts, especially in mare’s company.

No Shenanagans - His record over the season has been poor with only one win from 21 starts; however, his past couple of runs haven't been too bad. Admittedly they have been against moderate opposition but he indicates he could be a novelty hope in upcoming assignments as he will and should and will be at long odds.

Vintage Concerto - Former Victorian who has had 22 starts in the West for 11 wins and 9 placings. Resumed from a spell when a solid 2nd to Machine Gun last Friday after he worked forward early to face the breeze. The five year old affectionately nicknamed "The Moose" can continue winning races and should easily achieve a much tighter assessment this preparation.

My Hero - Resumed from a spell with a solid 3rd to Deep Pockets at headquarters on Sat. night. Is a horse that can do work in his races and usually tries very hard. Should be improved on his first up run.

Floral Edge - Owned and bred in South Australia by the Medhurst family but because she is trained by Kevin Brough she does a lot of border hopping. I liked her run when 2nd to Military she tried extremely hard and stuck to her guns well to go down by just under 3 metres. I think she will win a race soon.

Linveljack - Should have won on Monday @ GDP but galloped at the start. He has done that before, so, he is a little risky. He is yet to win a race from 14 starts but that usually indicates his opposition is not that strong either. Keep following.

Mands Lilly - Was first up for new trainer Michelle Manning and won impressively leading all the way. Ran her last half in 58 seconds and looks set to win another couple pretty quickly.

Gilt Bromac - Very smart N.Z. bred 2-y-o filly who debuted with a very convincing win at Maryborough. Sat in the death and ran home in 57.6 for last 800m and won untouched! This is a filly set for a very successful career.

Impatient Pants - Talented Leigh Miles trained trotter who excels with a nice sit. Dashed home from the back with a blistering last 800m to score at Maryborough from last. Look for him to work through to city class.

Strong Ambition - Had his second run back from a spell at Bathurst last Wednesday, found the front from the three gate and from there was never in danger. He now contests the final on this coming Wednesday night. If he comes back with the form of his two and three year old seasons there should be plenty of wins to come for him.

Drama Prince - Last two efforts have been very good. A hard fought second at Parkes two weeks ago to the promising Kenmor Atya was followed up with a closing second to Powerful Pam this previous Wednesday. Still a maiden, a victory it seems is not far away.

Surfing Star - Stepped up in grade after winning seven of her first ten starts, she was sent out favourite and finished second to C6 class mare Kate Shannon. The race on Wednesday was the quickest of the meeting with the winner going 2.00.6., Surfing Star should continue to race quickly through the grades.

ENJOY A CROWNIE - Highly promising trotter who was most unlucky not to win the Coulter Crown at Moonee Valley after being severely checked at the 300 metre mark by the favourite. Did a great job to flash home for third.

DILINGER GIRL - Good quality mare who ran a terrific race when sitting without cover in fast time when fourth to Pyrites. Was also inconvenienced in the straight and was a top run.

COURT CRUSADER - Got held up at a crucial stage of the race when unplaced at Yarra Valley last start. Ran on well but lost too much ground when dragged back by tiring horse.

(THE) REUNION was severely checked by the galloping Cedar Valley, lost 30m and ran an enormous race for fourth at Nyah when having his first run for trainer Greg Cramp. He looks well placed in the North-West and it won't be long before he breaks through for a win.

SUPERSONIC CULLEN settled in the second half of the field, gave away 35m to the leaders and was held up for a run at a vital stage when a luckless fourth at his first run back from a break at Geelong. He should strip fitter for that run and will continue to improve with the benefit of racing.

MISTER RHYS has had no luck whatsoever in his most recent starts and ended up running into a dead-end behind the eventual winner at Cranbourne on Saturday night. He has been running home strongly at the end of his races in recent times and could win a race at big odds in the near future.
