Bo Mach was the 13-1 upset winner in the $28,500 Blue/Hen/Open Handicap Pace at Dover Downs on Thursday night.
Rose Run Uriah and betting favorite Island of the Sea left alertly and fought for the early lead. George Napolitano Jr and Island Of The Sea became anxious, vacated the pocket, then rushed to the top at the quarter. Rose Run Uriah retreated to second. Bo Mach remained 3rd on the rail.
Island Of The Sea set sail and cut fractions of :26.4, :54.4 (:28) and 1:22.4 (:28). Penzance Hanover and driver Art Stafford Jr, braved 1st up past the half and into strong headwinds and chilly temperatures.
Caviart Eden and driver Tim Tetrick shadowed second over down the backstretch and towards the three-quarter pole. At the top of the stretch, Island Of The Sea began to weaken.
Rose Run Uriah moved off the rail and Bo Mach and driver Corey Callahan alertly inherited the pocket. They were able to save ground on the inside. It was the winning move as Bo Mach was able to defeat the late charging
