Harness racing mare Maggie Rhee was able to hold off Tuapeka Jessie N and capture the $20,000 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace Monday at Oak Grove Racing.
It was Rock It Out (Kyle Wilfong) first on the lead to the opening quarter mile in :26. Then driver John MacDonald made a quick move with Protect Blue Chip and then got a breather as they led the field to the half mile in :56.
Coming to the final turn, Maggie Rhee and driver Todd Warren started up first-over giving outside cover to Rollonbeauty (Christian Lind). Maggie Rhee was able to collar Protect Blue Chip at the three-quarters in 1:24.1.
Starting down the stretch, Maggie Rhee passed by Protect Blue Chip and then was able to just hold off Tuapeka Jessie N after a tough stretch drive to win by a quarter of a length in 1:53. Rollonbeauty was third.
It was the fourth win this year for the five-year-old mare by Jeremeās Jet. She is trained by Timothy Wilson, Jr. for the Wilson Racing Stable, Norman Neff and Mark Fichberg. She paid just $2.60 to win.
