CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The Marc Campbell stable made a clean sweep of the featured harness racing events Thursday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park winning the top pace and top trot.
Dreamfair Zenfire was back on top of her game in the $3,200 Fillies and Mares Preferred pace as Campbell pointed her to the front from the start and rolled through splits of 28.3, 58.1 and 1:27.4. Tobins Brownie (Driven by David Dowling) came calling in the final panel but was a quarter-length shy at the finish to end up second in 1:55.2 while Ms Moyse (Corey MacPherson) was third. Ryan and Everett MacLeod of Souris co-own the winning daughter of Sunfire Blue Chip.
The $2,800 Open Trot was a similar tale with Freddie winning easily on the front in 1:59.3 for trainer-driver Campbell and owner Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston. Campbell also visited the winner’s circle in race 5 with Tobins Diva (1:59.2) from the Kevin MacLean stable for the driving triple.
Cornwall driver Corey MacPherson opened up the program winning the first two races with Howmac Blaze (1:59.4) for trainer Michelle Myers and Miss Sangria (1:59.3) from the Ron Gass barn. MacPherson completed his driving hat trick in the race 11 finale with a game effort from Woodmere Rollily (1:57.2) for trainer Melissa Rennie.
Live racing continues Friday evening at Red Shores Summerside and Saturday evening in Charlottetown with 6:30 P.M. opening post times for each card.
