CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Screen Test (Vertical Horizon) circled from the back of the pack to capture the Saturday evening harness racing featured pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The opening quarter was hot in the $3,300 preferred pace as My Land (Driven by Jason Hughes) guarded the rail and parked out Burn Out Hanover (Brady Sweet) past the 27-second first station. Burn Out Hanover then acquired the lead but had to contend with the first-over Rose Run Quest (Adam Merner) past the 56.4 half-miler marker with eventual winner Screen Test (Corey MacPherson) following second-over.
Three-quarters were reached in 1:26.1 and Screen Test and driver MacPherson then pounced around the last turn to prevail by a length in 1:55. Rose Run Quest was second with Burn Out Hanover third. Ron Gass trains Screen Test for William Andrew of Calgary, Alta., and Kickin Horse Stable of York.
