Downbytheseaside pair sweep $110,000 OSS

Grove City, Ohio – Stablemates Sea Silk (Downbytheseaside) and Cape Cod Hanover (Downbytheseaside) swept the two harness racing divisions of the $55,00 Ohio Sires Stakes three-year-old filly pace at MGM Northfield Park Saturday evening.

In the first division, Sea Silk made it look easy, winning in 1:50.4.

Dragon’s Revenge with Aaron Merriman raced to the lead off the gate but was quickly reeled in by Sea Silk and Chris Page grabbing the lead at the quarter-pole in :26.4.

The filly covered the half in :54.4 and hit the three-quarter mark in 1:23.3.

Cold Hearted Gypsy and Chris Lems challenged Sea Silk entering the final turn, but as they entered the final stretch, Sea Silk opened her lead and cruised to a 2¾ length victory.

The 1-9 favorite is trained by Ron Burke and owned by the Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, Knox Services, and Hatfield Stable.

SEA SILK REPLAY

The victory was Sea Silk’s third of the year and 12^th in 16 lifetime starts.  With the win Sea Silk has now earned $88,864 this year and pushed her lifetime earnings to $672,956.

Cold Hearted Gypsy finished second with Dragons Revenge third.

In the second division, Cape Cod Hanover finally found the winner’s circle this year in Ohio Sires Stakes action giving Page and Burke the sweep of the third leg for sophomore pacing fillies.  Cape Cod Hanover was second in the first two legs.

Greg Grismore took Prancing Queen to early lead covering the first quarter in 26.3.

The lead did not last long as 6-5 favorite Do It Like Bobbi and Tony Hall grab the lead at the half in :54.

As the field headed down the back stretch, Page pulled Cape Cod Hanover and took the lead at the three-quarter pole in 1:22.1.

The two battled around the final turn with Do It Like Bobbi retaking the lead briefly only to see Cape Cod Hanover turn with the lead and hold on to win by ¾ of a length in new lifetime mark of 1:51.2.

CAPE COD HANOVER REPLAY

The win is the third of the year for the filly.  She has hit the board in all five starts and raised her earnings to $90,000.

Cape Cod Hanover is owned by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, Rich Lombardo Racing, and RAS Racing.

Do It Like Bobbi held on for second with Prancing Queen finishing second.

Ohio Sire Stakes action continues Saturday July 23 when three-year-old pacing colts take the track at Eldorado Scioto Downs.

Action in the Ohio Sires Stakes for two-year-olds will begin Saturday July 16^th with freshman colt pacers racing at MGM Northfield Park.
