SUMMERSIDE, PE – The 54th edition of the Governor’s Plate, presented by Summerside Chrysler Dodge, was full of surprises but there was no doubt about the winner as No Plan Intended (Up The Credit) landed on top Saturday evening at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Island Beach Boy (Driven by Gilles Barrieau) blasted off the wings to grab the lead in the $30,000 final heading into the first turn with morning line favourite Twin B Tuffenuff (Dale Spence) getting away second but hitting the run in the first turn. That break in stride let No Plan Intended and driver David Dowling inherit the two-hole and enjoy a perfect ride through splits of 27.1, 55.1 and 1:22.4 before angling out in the stretch drive to win in 1:52.1. Island Beach Boy was second ahead of Rotten Ronnie (Redmond Doucet Jr.).
