Harness racing’s North America Cup and Adios winner Fear The Dragon sired his first Stakes winner when the two-year-old filly Fear Of Sports led throughout in a $72,500 Ohio State Fair Stakes division in a career-best 1:52.2 at Scioto Downs.
It was her third success from five starts and lifted her stake tally to $74,125.
Other recent Fear The Dragon winners have been the two-year-old filly Stormy Serena (1:54) and the three-year-olds Dragthechipsmyway (1:52.6), Getaway Sticks (1:52.8) and Miss Venus (1:56).
The first crop of Fear The Dragon has now earned almost $2 million, while his second crop of 114 foals (81 starters) has banked $563,103, as at August 11.
Warrawee Needy, the former world record holder, was represented by a new two-year-old winner in Test Of Fire and a two new three-year-old winners in Mista Macneedy, who rated 1:56.2 winning at Wagga, and Strutty, a very impressive winner at Albury.
Warrawee Needy has sired 38 individual winners from 60 Australian bred starters.
Other stud-sired winners in North America were Titanium NZ 1:53.6 (by Tintin In America) and Wine Tyme 1:58 (by Warrawee Needy).
Fear The Dragon, Warrawee Needy and Tintin In America are members of the sire roster at Wingate Farm (formerly Yirribee Pacing Stud), Wagga.
