Today’s (Sept. 10) Prix d’Ete at the Hippodrome Paris-Vincennes (purse 200,000€, 2700 meters, Gr. II International for 4-10 year olds) went to the even-money favorite Etonnant (8m Timoko-Migraine) with Anthony Barrier the pilot for owner/trainer Richard Westerink.
This was Etonnant’s 20th career victory now for 2,110,375€ earned. He set a reasonable pace to score by two lengths plus in 1.11.7kr in the rain (1.12.9kr at the 1500 meters to go mark; 1.12.1ke at the 1000 and 1.11.6kr with 500 remaining).
Dorgos de Guez (9g Romcok du Guez) sat the pocket at 4.5/1 odds and finished second in a photo with trainer Jean Michel Bazire up for Ecurie Vauttheors. The 2.4/1 odds Galius (6m Love You) rallied from the back to be third for Yoann Lebourgeois at the lines for breeder/owner/trainer Severine Raimond.
Both Dorgos and Galius were clocked at 1.11.9kr. Delia du Pommereux and Gu d’Heripre finished fourth and fifth in the nine-horse field.
On the undercard was the Prix Montier (purse 70,000€, 2850 meters, European five year olds) and Italy’s Barbirussa Jet (5f Pine Chip-Nagasaki Jet) recorded her first victory in France with Joann Lebourgeois up for trainer L.C. Abrivard and owner Jean Pierre Barjon. Her career earnings advanced to 190,140€. She was off at 36/1 odds.
Finishing second was 1.7/1 Bilo Jepson (5g Timoko) handled today by David Thomain for trainer Vitale Ciotola. Third home was 2.6/1 First Blood (5m Prodigious) with trainer Jean Michel Bazire at the lines. Race time was 1.12.9kr.
