Down Under Winners from North America – 7th March

The New Zealand-bred harness racing gelding Nandolo (Betterthancheddar) clocked his second sub 1:50 mile for the season when he won the $45,000 Open2/Open 1 Handicap at The Meadowlands on Saturday night (March 4) in 1:49.8.

He has now won 25 races and $584,410 in stakes. 

Waitforever, an ex-Kiwi mare by American Ideal, led from end-to-end to capture the $18,500 Filly and Mare Open at Northfield Park in 1:52 on Saturday night. She has $138,481 in career earnings. 

A Fair Ol Dance, a gelding by A Rocknroll Dance, and Howard Hughes completed a New Zealand quinella in the $19,300 Open Handicap Pace at The Meadows on Friday (March 3). 

The seven-year-old scored by 2-1/4 lengths in 1:52.2 on a sloppy track. He has now banked $228,785. 

Meanwhile, the Queensland-bred Artistic Fella mare Lucky Artist notched her 35th success when she rallied strongly along the inside late to win the $36,000 Open Handicap in 1:53.6 at Yonkers Raceway on Friday night (March 3). 

The win lifted her lifetime earnings to $458,184.
