SUMMERSIDE, PE – Melody Maker (Hes Watching) is back in Prince County and takes dead aim at the Tuesday (Oct. 16) evening top harness racing class at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The Western track has 14-dashes scheduled to start at 6 P.M., with the $3,600 feature lining up in race 13.
Melody Maker is the morning line favourite in that class with Dale Spence giving his father-in-law’s trainee one final spin for the season from post 6. It will be the last P.E.I. race card of the season that Spence will compete in before he and wife MacKenzie take their stable to race the Ontario circuit for the Winter months.
The Tuesday top class sees the Greg MacInnis owned and trained Melody Maker come back to Red Shores Summerside after a sixth place finish last time in Charlottetown over a muddy track. Previously he won two straight in Summerside including a 1:53.4 seasonal best.
Woodmere Ideal Art was a winner his last two starts and gets the services of Paul Langille from post 7 for trainer Sifroi Melanson. Rail control belongs to Sauble Attack (To be driven by Ken Murphy) while Frontier Cruise (Brady Sweet) was a hard closing second in his last start and has post 4 on Tuesday.
Also in the field are Soccer Hanover (Corey MacPherson), KD Overdrive (Kyle Mason) and Middleton Terror (David Dowling).
The Backstretch Beat places Melody Maker in the win column.
“Melody Maker loves the Summerside Raceway and knows how to get the job done. This one won’t be easy sledding, but he is the entry that everyone else will be looking out for.”
The race 14 finale has Almost There Boss (Dowling) favoured from post 3 for trainer Ralph Sweet and owners David and John Sweet. The Sunshine Beach four-year-old has been rock solid since coming to Atlantic Canada with a win, three seconds and a third from just five starts. His competition in the $2,900 event includes multiple Truro Raceway top class winner Privilege (Jaycob Sweet) coming in from Nova Scotia with post 7 and Hunger Pangs (Brady Sweet) who was a winner his last two starts.
