āIāve liked those two Papi Robs all along,ā Daley said. ā(P A Piper) wasnāt perfect today, but he won it. Champagne Room has always been nice, everything about her. Sheās very classy. Weāll see if sheās the best one. There are other ones out there going (1):54 already, so weāll see when we get down to those numbers.ā
Security Code S, who won in 2:02 with Todd McCarthy in the sulky, is from the family of 2009 Horse of the YearĀ Muscle HillĀ and his extended family includes 2020 Trotter of the YearĀ Gimpanzee. āIt was pretty much what I expected with most of them,ā said Daley, who had nine starters in Wednesdayās rookie qualifiers. āEverything was all right. Weāll have to make a few changes on a couple of them. Itās always good when you get in with other horses, even if itās only one or two. You get a bit more of a guide to them when theyāve got to go quick.
āMost of these will miss next week and come the last week (of qualifiers). Weāve got some others for next week. Iāve got a bunch Iād like to at least get qualified here once in the last week, the ones that arenāt quite ready, just to have their first experience here. Itās easier for us if we can get them done at least the first time here.ā
Toscano-trained Louāsbodaciousboy got Wednesdayās festivities started with his 1:55.1 win with Scott Zeron in the bike. He was bred by owners Conrad Zurich and Hauser Bros Rcng Ent. His family includes Grand Circuit winner Malicious.
