Daisy Corvette (Mystician) doubled up in the Fillies and Mares Preferred at Century Downs on Friday (Jul. 19) in a tight harness racing finish.
The mare landed outside the top three for the first time in four starts, sitting sixth to the quarter in :27.3. She traveled in that position until Dave Kelly put her in play approaching the half in :56.2.
With Century Mach (Serge Masse) stalling first-up nearing the final turn, Daisy Corvette circled her and advanced uncovered through three-quarters in 1:24.2. Racelong leader Outlaw Sharktastic (Nathan Sobey) appeared to be holding her at bay as they straightened for home, but Daisy Corvette re-rallied and nailed her on the wire to win in 1:53.4.
Outlaw Sharktastic was beaten by a head in second. Grey Sea (Tyler Redwood) closed from the backfield for third.
