The running of Sunday’s Placemakers Hannon Memorial at Oamaru has seen a decent shake-up in the IRT New Zealand Trotting Cup harness racing rankings.
The top six places for the country’s biggest race at Addington Raceway on Tuesday, November 12 remain unchanged from the first list of rankings released last week.
But beyond them there has been some significant movement, including Hannon Memorial winner Republican Party (Bettor’s Delight) moving up three places from 10th to seventh.
The three that finished behind him have climbed up the leaderboard, with Pinseeker up 19 places to 20th while Macandrew Aviator has improved from 18th to 14th and fourth place-getter Mo’unga has gone from 34th to 25th.
There have also been two withdrawals this week, the now retired Millwood Nike and the Steve and Amanda Telfer-trained Ohoka Connor, with his connections opting for mobile starts. He has been slow away in his most recent standing starts but rocketed home into fourth behind Dalton Shard in the Avon City Ford New Brighton Cup on September 6.
The top 15 rankings for the Renwick Farms Dominion Trot are unchanged, with Mighty Logan up one place to 16th after winning the Darfield ITM Handicap Trot at Addington last Friday. Confessional, who was second in the same race, has moved up four places to 23rd while I Dream Of Jeannie is up one to 22nd following her second in the Jasmyn’s Gift Fillies and Mares Stakes at Oamaru on Sunday.
There have been three withdrawals this week – Sunnys Sister, Galway Girl and Ti Amo Belle.
