Builth Wells, UK – The Royal Welsh Showgrounds will be the site of one of the biggest Standardbred horse sales of the year this Monday, October 19 starting at 11:00 am.
Birghtwell Limited runs the sale and all horses that go through the sales ring are from members of the Standardbred & Trotting Horse Association of Great Britain and Ireland (STAGBI) and the stock is fully registered with them.
Approximately 52 broodmares, yearlings, two-year-olds and horses both in and out of training will go through the sales ring.
The sale will also be broadcast live on the internet at

The growing interest in the sport has led to the sale attracting an international crowd, and the record price for a Standardbred Horse of £51,000 being set at the 2014 Brightwells Sale.
“All the signs are positive for another successful sale in 2015, with a number of quality consignments,” said Terry Court of Birghtwell, Limited. “We are delighted to have the full brother to the record breaking priced horse, Rhyds Megastar, and he is coming from the formidable stable of John & Grethe Wright and will be offered in the Brightwells Sales Arena”.
Also consigned is a strong contingent from over the water in Ireland, including from the Oakwood Stables a very exciting yearling filly, Oakwood Dragoness, by Dragon Again and out of Abbey Won by The Panderosa. Derek Delaney calls her the “jewel in Oakwood’s crown”.
Other outstanding prospects include Mr. Prices Share A Smile, who is a brother to track record holders and stakes champions Titanium, p3,1:56.7h £23,447 2012 and Miraculous p2,1:59.9h £27,947 2013 and an American Ideal yearling colt, 'Rhyds Ideal', out of a well-bred American mare Sandfly Hanover. He is a half brother to Mosquito Blue Chip, who this year set a track record of 1.53.3 for a 3 year old filly at Buffalo Raceway and also set a track record at 2 at Tioga Downs in 1.52.1.
