Hy Leinvincible (Roll With Joe) made a one-act affair of his harness racing heat of the 2023 Dynamo series in front of a large crowd in Hobart on Friday night.
The Rohan Hillier-trained and driven gelding led all the way, and after running a lead time to the half-mile in 21.s, the pacer strode down the back straight before running home in 29.4s to win by 28.3m and stopped the clock in 1:17.51s for the 1120m trip, the quickest time of the eight heats, which saw his connections collect a $20,000 bonus.
$10,000 of that bonus heads to West Australian-based owner Ian Baker, while Hillier collected the $7,500 trainerās share and $2,500 driverās percentage.
Hillier said post-race that he earmarked the series for the pacer after being a beaten $1.10 favourite in Launceston in late August.
āWhen the series was advertised, we tipped him out, and we wanted to bring him back and have him pretty fresh for it,ā Hillier said post-race.
āThe draw, distance, and how he races suited him tonight.
The win was the pacerās sixth victory at his 16th start, with four of those wins coming since arriving in the state in July.
āHe has got plenty of ability, and he has built his confidence since arriving in the state,ā said the trainer-driver.
Hillier also had the third fastest winner on the program when Baby You A Song ran 1:17.97s inĀ heat 7, sitting first-over throughout.
āI thought it was a super effort, and she definitely doesnāt like Hobart that much when off the pegs.
āShe paced terribly two weeks ago when sitting behind the leader, so we changed a few things, and I thought she was super,ā said the trainer-driver.
The winning times of the Hillier pair were split by Mickey Oh, who wonĀ first up from a spellĀ in 1:17.86s.
