The Ready Cash horse Brillantissime, a thrice Group 1 winner in Italy and the leading first crop sire in France last year, was represented by his first Australian winner when the three-year-old filly Hopeful Beauty was successful at Charlton on Monday (August 17).
After sitting parked throughout, the filly surged to the front in the closing stages to win by almost a length under a hold.
Hopeful Beauty had been placed at Bendigo at her only previous start. She is a very smart youngster.
Bought as a yearling in France by Haras Des Trotteurs principal Pat Driscoll, is the first of the royally-bred Brillantissime’s stock to race ‘down under’.
The frozen semen of Brillantissime is available to Australian and NZ breeders through Haras Des Trotteurs, Ballarat (Vic.) for the first time this season.
Pat Driscoll said: “We only have a very small amount of Brillantissime in Australia for this current season (already fully booked). However, agreement has been reached with Haras De Bouttemont in France (also the home of Ready Cash and five other siring sons of Ready Cash), to have a more commercial amount of Brillantisssime’s frozen semen for next season in both Australia and New Zealand.”
Love You and Quaker Jet, both members of the Haras Des Trotteurs frozen semen roster, left important winners on consecutive days in Victoria recently.
Love You led in the trifecta in the two-year-old trot at Ballarat with Tictok (1st), Hi Ho Kyvalley (2nd) and Kyvalley Hiphop (3rd) and has now left four individual two-year-old winners from his first commercial crop.
Meanwhile, Quaker Jet’s bonny three-year-old daughter Electrojet, who was bred by Yabby Dam Farms, made it three wins from her last six starts with an end-to-end success at Melton.
Another recent Yabby Dam Farms-bred winner was Agent Maori, who posted his 14th lifetime success at Menangle. He has now earned in excess of $120,000.
In further news from Haras Des Trotteurs, the Cantab Hall horse Volstead has returned to Victoria after serving a full book of 140 mares in his first season in Ohio.
A Group 1 winner in Sweden, Volstead covered 74 mares in Australia and 24 in New Zealand last year.
