He’s regarded as a whizz with the square-gaiters.
And ace Victorian harness racing trainer Jess Tubbs will again call on Blake Fitzpatrick’s horsemanship for one of her stable big guns One Over All (Angus Hall) at Tabcorp Park Menangle tonight (Jun. 17).
Fitzpatrick will drive One Over All in tonight’s feature, the $30,600 Yamamoto Trotters Mile at the southern-western Sydney circuit, where the gelding has been installed a $1.65 favourite to score his 16th win from just 49 starts.
Tubbs has become a trainer of international renown in recent weeks after campaigning with her stable star Just Believe in one of the world’s biggest trot races, the Elitloppet in Sweden.
Just Believe has stayed on in Europe to contest a couple more races with Tubbs’ husband Greg Sugars taking the reins.
And with Sugars off the scene, Tubbs is again relying on Fitzpatrick to get the job done with One Over All.
Fitzpatrick took the reins on One Over All at Menangle two weeks ago and came off a 30-metre handicap to defeat a strong field over 2300m in a Trotters Discretionary handicap, scoring by 14.3m from local stars Majestic Trio and Rave On Hall.
And while standing starts have become something of a specialty for One Over All, the son of Angus Hall has also proven just as effective in mobile starts with four victories.
The Alchin brothers Jarrod and Rickie will be looking to end One Over All’s charge with the two main dangers tonight.
Last-start winners Watts Up Majestic (Will Rixon) and Regal Attire (Cameron Hart), shape as the main dangers to One Over All over the flying mile.
Meanwhile in-form local pacer Im Presi Belle is back on deck at Menangle tonight chasing his seventh successive win.
Taken to Victoria a fortnight ago, Im Presi Belle stretched her perfect term to six with an impressive win in Melton.
This time around the Peter Rixon-trained daughter of Mach Three will contest the opening event at Menangle night against a solid field of mares over 1609 metres.
To be driven by Rixon’s daughter, Hannah, Im Presi Belle will begin from barrier nine.
“I was rapt with her run in Melton,” Rixon said.
“The way the race was run, with a 27-second quarter in the middle, helped her, but she finished it off brilliantly.
“She gets back in grade a little bit at Menangle with Hannah driving her and certainly has a chance again.”
