The French harness racing champion Love You was credited with two Group 1 winners in the space of 90 minutes at the Menangle feature meeting.
Queen Elida, a New Zealand-bred four-year-old, overwhelmed the best trotting mares in commission in the $50,000 Garrard’s La Coocaracha, clocking a career-best 1:55.8 for the flying mile.
It was her 12th success from 22 starts and lifted her stake tally to $194,305.
Champion filly Tough Love stretched her winning sequence to four when she led throughout in the $50,000 NSW Trotters Oaks. She rated 2:00.5 for 2300 metres with the last 800 in 58.1.
Haras Des Trotteurs’ sired the trifecta in the Oaks with the runner-up Amandine (by Village Mystic, a son of Love You) and the third placed Taimate Sass NZ (by Love You).
Tough Love has now won nine races and $94,201.
Love You, the leading sire of three-year-olds in both NZ and Australia, left nine individual winners in the space of nine days.
Other recent Love You winners have been the three-year-old fillies Taimate Sass (Bendigo), Love Potion (Auckland, NZ), Pyramid Mystic (Invercargill, NZ) and Ti Amo Belle (Rangiora, NZ) and the older performers Matua Tana (Addington, NZ) and Galleon’s Ambassador and King Of Love (both Rangiora).
Quaker Jet, Love You’s outstanding son and also a member of the Haras Des Trotteurs’ sire roster, left winners on both sides of the Tasman in Gunner, a 1:58.3 winner at Menangle, and Joedium (Invercargill).
Used To Me, who stands at Haras Des Trotteurs’ Ballarat farm, sired two ‘new’ winners in Victoria in consecutive days in the three-year-old filly Used To Be A Maid (Yarra Valley) and Rosie’s Pride (Bendigo).
Used To Me sired the trifecta at Yarra Valley with Used To Me A Maid (1st), Queen Of Quebec (2nd) and La Perriere (3rd), all bred by Yabby Dam Farms.
Used To Me boasts an amazing siring score of having left 16 winners from 28 starters from 50 foals three-year-old and older at an average of $20,700 per starter!
