Inter Dominion champion driver Anthony Butt admits that he still has more to learn about Kiwi star trotter Majestic Man.
However, the pair pulled enough together to claim the first heat of the Inter Dominion Trotting Championship at Tabcorp Park Menangle tonight.
It was only a narrow margin of a head with Victorian trotter The Penny Drops getting ever so close, but past the finish line that did not matter ā Majestic Man obtained the win.
āI was pretty happy with that, he raced pretty keen all the way,ā said Butt.
āIt was his first run in a few weeks and we havenāt done too much with him since he arrived.
āWeāre still getting to know the horse, he has a few little tricks.
āThis was my first race drive on him so Iāll be better for the run too.ā
Butt found the lead easily with Majestic Man from barrier two and after a lead time of 59.8, the quarters were 30.7, 30.2, 27.8 and 27.5 seconds.
The mile rate was rounded down to 1:58.0, equalling Xebecās Australian record for the 2400m.
Majestic Man arrived in Buttās care from New Zealand on November 17 for trainer Phil Williamson.
The gelded son of Majestic Son now has 19 wins to his credit as well as 28 placings in 64 starts.
