He may not have won yesterday’s $50,000 Treuer Memorial however harness racing trainer Kevin Pizzuto has big plans for runner up Arden Messi.
Pizzutoās other pacer Loorrim Lake won the Group 2 feature at Bankstown and Arden Messi was only beaten a head after setting the fast tempo in front, contributing to a track record for the 2540m distance.
āHeās a good horse donāt worry about that,ā said Pizzuto of Arden Messi.
āHis run was super.
āHeāll have a light week and I want to look at the Inter Dominion with him later in the year.
āHe is only a four-year-old and so is Loorrim Lake and they have big futures.ā
Following Loorrim Lakeās success in Mondayās Treuer Memorial where he clocked 1:57.6, there is a possibility the gelding could continue the rest of his racing career in North America.
āWeāre in negotiations to sell him to the States but if that falls through, Iāll continue racing him here,ā said Pizzuto.
āHe is having a light week as well until we find out exactly what the next step is.ā
Winning the Treuer Memorial was a highlight of Pizzutoās career, who trains his team of horses at the Bankstown track.
āIāve always wanted to win the Treuer Memorial and to finish one-two was even better,ā he said.
āI couldnāt split the horses going into the race, they are both very nice animals.ā
Loorrim Lake, a gelded son of Roll With Joe, is raced by Danny Zavitsanos and has had seven starts in Pizzutoās care for four wins and two second placings.
Arden Messi is also a gelding, by Bettors Delight, and is raced by Marc Hanover and Gordon Banks and has had 17 starts in Australia for four wins and eight placings.
