My General Lee stands first season at Bellmoure Park Stud

The impeccably bred stallion My General Lee has arrived at his new home—Mario Borg’s Bellmoure Park Stud, located in Sampson Flat, just 30 kilometres northeast of Adelaide.

Borg couldn’t be more thrilled with his latest addition, describing My General Lee as “a magnificent looking stallion” and a significant acquisition for South Australian breeders.

A son of the champion sire Art Major, My General Lee boasts bloodlines that are among the most potent in the country. He is out of My Ami Lee, a well-performed racemare by Safely Kept, from the prolific producing family of Cosmophylla.

The Art Major x Safely Kept cross has proven itself time and again, consistently delivering early speed, soundness, and durability—traits highly sought after by breeders looking for both commercial appeal and long-term racing prospects.

My Ami Lee is the dam of multiple Group 1 performers, including:

  • Louvre 1:54.5 ($402,665) – winner of 16 races, including the NSW Breeders Challenge at both two and three;
  • Miss Hazel 1:57 ($310,063) – 15 wins including the Victoria Oaks and Ladyship Cup;
  • Renaissance Man 1:53.1 ($297,904) – SA Derby and NSW Sires Stakes champion, now making his mark as a sire.

My General Lee also carries a 3×4 cross to Abercrombie, one of the most influential sires in Standardbred history—further strengthening the depth of his pedigree.

On the track, My General Lee was a standout, winning 20 races including the Group 2 Treuer Memorial. As a four-year-old, he was runner-up in the prestigious Breeders Crown Final behind Hectorjayjay, beating home elite Group 1 winners such as Messini, Major Crocker, and Lettucerockthem.

He recorded a best mile rate of 1:52.2 and, from limited stud opportunities, boasts an impressive 100% runners-to-winners ratio—with all four of his progeny to race being winners.

“He offers South Australian breeders world-class bloodlines,” Borg said. “We’ve had strong interest already, especially from those wanting to know more about his temperament and conformation, which are both outstanding.”

With lucrative Southern Cross and Vicbred bonuses on offer and progeny also eligible for the Australasian Breeders’ Crown, My General Lee presents exciting opportunities for local broodmare owners.

His 2025 service fee has been set at $2,500 (including GST)
