Albion Park unearthed the new star of Australasian trotting tonight after three-year-old London To A Brick (Bettor’s Delight) scored a stunning harness racing win against the older horses in the inaugural running of the Group 1 $150,000 Haras Des Trotteurs Great Square.
Shooting for a fourth consecutive win, London To A Brick settled two horses back in the running line before driver James Rattray eased three wide in the back straight and ultimately pulled four wide around the home turn to stake his claim.
With Rattray sitting quietly in the sulky, London To A Brick charged down the centre of the track striding to the lead with 50 metres to travel before scoring by two metres from the $2.50 favorite Arcee Phoenix in a mile rate of 1:56.4.
āHeās just a beautiful horse, heās strong and heās got great speed,ā Rattray said after the race.
āHe travelled great the whole way, there was a bit of speed around us early and I thought that if we were close enough then we were going to be hard to hold out and for the first three-year-old to take on and beat the older horses is an amazing effort,ā he said.
LONDON TO A BRICK REPLAY
The emergence of London To A Brick is somewhat extraordinary as he is a pacing bred son of Bettors Delight out of the race winning mare Iām Justforyou who is a daughter of Christian Cullen.
āHe revved up that bad as a young horse we just had to jog him in between and he just wanted to trot, so he kept at it,ā he said.
