The Garrard family are not only sponsors but vendors at the Garrard’s Redcliffe Yearling Sale to be conducted by Darren Ebert & Co at Redcliffe Paceway on Sunday, April 2.
Chris Garrard, the patriarch of the well known harness racing family, is offering a striking bay colt by the Australian 2YO and 3YO of the Year and now successful colonial bred sire Bling It On as Lot 21.
He is the second foal of the Redcliffe Yearling Sale Series heat and dual Albion Park winner Charlyse NZ (1:55), a Changeover mare from the family of the multiple Victorian Group winner Young Modern ($279,368) and the former NZ 2YO of the Year Our Major Mark ($720,180).
“He’s a real standout,” Burwood Stud principal Noel Denning, who is preparing the colt, said.
Chris Garrard’s son Daren and his wife Gayle are also represented at the sale by Lot 47, an athletic bay filly by the Victoria Cup and dual Derby winner For A Reason, the sire of the winners of almost $5million.
The filly is the first foal of the NZ and NSW winner Nova Time (1:57.9), a Mach Three mare from the immediate family of horses the calibre of the Fremantle Cup and WA Golden Nugget winner Minstrel, City Rogue (Australian Derby) and Applause (QLD Rising Stars Championship).
All yearlings sold at the sale are eligible for the guaranteed $100,000 Garrard’s Redcliffe Yearling Sale 2YO Classic in 2024 and the $50,000 3YO Classic in 2025. They are also eligible for QBred, Breeders Crown, Bathurst Gold Crown, NSW Breeders Challenge and Vicbred.
