Swedish-born harness racing driver Sofia Arvidsson is testing her “wings” in Sydney . . . a move that has already paid off.
Relocating from Victoria, the 27-year-old has snapped up winners in her first week of working for horseman Blake Fitzpatrick.
Arvidsson’s first winner for her new boss was Dance Secret at Goulburn on Monday.
A day later, she was back in the winners’ circle when victorious with Wow Hes A Rockstar at Menangle.
“I like the lifestyle up here (Sydney),” said Arvidsson.
“There is more time for a life so to speak and less time spent on the road.
“I just started working for Blake this week.
“I’m not sure how long for yet, just testing my wings.”
With a 100 per cent strike rate for her new boss, Arvidsson will wear Fitzpatrick’s yellow and green silks in her first drive around the Penrith track on Thursday night.
Fitzpatrick has two starters in race two and will handle New Zealand import Uncle Chan while Arvidsson will drive Breivika.
Arvidsson will also steer Pearl Harbour in the Ladyship Stakes at Menangle on Saturday night, a track the reinswoman is very familiar with.
It was just earlier this month Arvidsson drove her third Group 1 winner courtesy of Credit Master winning the Trotters Mile.
The former backpacker began driving in the 2019/20 season and has notched up 70 winners in her 368 drives.
“I grew up on a farm on the other side of the world and had nothing at all to do with harness racing, so this is not what I was destined to do, so to speak,” she once said.
