Team Teal for 2024 has come to an end, but this year looked a little different for WA with the South West Pony Trots getting behind the fantastic harness racing initiative.
With six young members involved, we saw Ruby Woodworth, Brooke Strachan, Addison Sharp, Mikayla Vlemmix, Maisie Reeves and Ruby Russell don the teal pants from February 1 to March 15, with the girls flying the flag over the six-weeks to take out four races during the Team Teal campaign.
The South West Pony Trots raised $218 during the six-week period, surpassing their goal of $200, as well as The Trots WA raising a further $1178.
This year we saw WA reinswomen claim a total of 52 wins over the six weeks, raising a total of $20,400, with the harness racing industry throughout Australia and New Zealand raising a whopping $178,400, with the Teal Pants winning a total of 408 races nationwide, and a further 76 in New Zealand.
This year’s ambassadors of WA included top reinswomen Deni Roberts and Emily Suvaljko, as well as training ambassadors Jocelyn Young and Jemma Hayman, whoās runners wore the Team Teal silks throughout the campaign.
Racing WA continued their support to Team Teal with a $15,000 contribution.
