Favourite Tracy The Jet (Love You) demonstrated her brilliance with an outstanding win in the $125,000 Nutrien Equine Three Year Old Trotters Final for fillies.

It was expected that the race would be a match race between Tracy The jet and the other Bendigo heat winner Miss Ohana.
Will Rixon was determined to hold the lead on Miss Ohana and she did so with little effort as Tracy The Jet eased back early. But no sooner had the field settled down then James Herbertson whizzed Tracy The Jet around the field and after a spirited battle with Miss Ohana forged to the lead.

And once in front she continued to run along. Despite the hard effort early in the race Tracy The Jet moved clear along the back straight. Keayang Kurki and Iron Women set out in hot pursuit but a fast last quarter of 28.5 seconds was too much for her opponents and they had to settle for the minor placings. In winning Tracy The Jet rated 1.56.1 which was over four seconds faster than the colts and geldings final.
Herbertson was praiseworthy of the filly.
“She had a bit too much power down the back straight. She should have found the lead a bit earlier but she’s a very powerful filly. To go the time she’s gone tonight and still have a bit left in the locker is a bit scary.”
“First half she didn’t feel like it. The way she goes it seems 30 or 31 seconds but she’s broken 29.5 seconds.”
“She’s a bit deceiving like that the way she does it. I was a little worried at the top of the straight as she got a bit wandering but she’s also run the first 1200 metres in the lead time very strong. She got home in 28.5 seconds.”
On asked about how far she might go Herbertson responded “I think what she’s produced now and last prep you’d put here into a higher bracket. She hasn’t got the rungs on the board like Keayang Zahara but I think there’ll be some interesting reacing coming up in the next 12 months.”
“As they both (Howdy Mate and Tracy The Jet) progress into free for all class it’ll be quite strong”.
Trainer Jess Tubbs is yet to commit for plans for both trotters. Although Tracy The Jet would be likely to start a short priced favourite for the Group 1 $75,000 Victoria Trotters Oaks at Melton on October 18 Jess Stubbs was non committal. “It’ll be one race at a time. We’ll then plot a course of action”.
The win was part of a remarkable night for Herbertson. In addition to his dual Nutrien success he scored in Race 2 with Operative Line (Betting Line) and then later in the evening guided promising Lady Vici (Orlando Vici) and I’m Bobby (Majestic Son) to his seventh successive victory making it five wins on the night for Herbertson.
