The undefeated harness racing filly, Chip Of Evil (Arthur Blue Chip) will put that win streak on the line on Saturday (Sep. 2) at Connell Park, Woodstock, N.B as Horse Racing New Brunswick features the prestigious Milton Downey Memorial stakes in two divisions.
Owned by the Inarush Stable of Kensington, P.E.I the Arthur Blue Chip daughter is four for four lifetime with over $ 21,000 bankrolled. She will be tested by Miss Wicked (Mcwicked), owned by Blaine Thibeau.
Chip Of Evil took a new life’s mark two starts back at Red Shores, Charlottetown of 1:56.1. Corey MacPherson will guide the filly from post two.
Miss Wicked sports a mark of 1:56.1 as a freshman over Summerside Raceway. She is a daughter of the McWicked who will be making only her third lifetime start.
In the colt division, Jackies Boy (Tabago Cays) and Myles Heffernan look like the ones to beat on the strength of his three wins from just five outings. He has earned over $ 22,000 to date.Ā Jason Hughes, who is the second leading driver at Red Shores, Charlottetown brings in Tobins Barn Party and he has the rail advantage in the field of six starters.
Both divisions of the Downey carry purses of $ 16,245. Saturday’s race honors the memory of racing pioneer and ambassador Milton Downey, well known for his breeding farm and a respected Saint John businessman.
Saturday will also feature the Rod Goguen Memorial, another tribute to another Saint John horseman who was a friend to many, and a popular figure on the backstretch. In all, six races will go on Saturday with a starting post of 1:00 P.M with close to $ 50,000 in purse money.
In the Rod Goguen Memorial, all five starters were Gold Cup and Saucer elimination horses with one of them, Bee Two BeeĀ a starter in the big dance.
Jason Hughes will pilot Bee Two Bee from post two in the five-horse field. Rail control will go to Myles Heffernan and Repeal Or Replace.
New Brunswick owned and trained Pick A Genre, a starter in the Gold Cup and Saucer trials, will have owner and driver Mitch Downey on board from post three.
