Charlottetown, PE – The Future Stars of Racing harness racing event scheduled for tonight (Monday June 24, 2024) at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park has postponed due to the rain and thunder showers. The event showcasing the two-year olds will now take place Wednesday June 26th at 5:30 pm.
In other news, a tough featured field will take to the track in the Tuesday evening feature at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The program gets underway at 6 P.M. with 12-dashes on tap.
Race 11 is the $3,600 featured pace with Batterup Hanover (Betting Line) the morning line favourite from post 5 for trainer-driver Paul Langille and Nova Scotia owners Debbie Francis, Douglas Lowthers and Rosanne and Chantel Langille.
Batterup Hanover, a six-year-old, has been on his toes every start so far in 2024 with a pair of victories in 1:54.3 at his home base of Truro Raceway in Bible Hill, N.S. He last raced in the $8,500 Cecil Ladner Memorial Invitational but got away eighth in the mud while struggling to make up ground.
He will seek redemption against his Tuesday foes including former Gold Cup and Saucer champion Time To Dance from post 6 for driver Marc Campbell and trainer Brent Campbell. The eight-year-old by A Rocknroll Dance comes into the dash fresh off a qualifier after winning his final two races of 2023 with 11 wins from 34 starts in that campaign.
Howmac Maximus (To be driven by Damian MacLellan) has rail control from the Tammy Collings barn after finished second at this level two starts back.
Sauble Attack (Ken Murphy) leaves from post 2 for trainer Paul Biggar. Post 3 has Coasttocoastshark (Jaycob Sweet) for Jeff Wallace while Melody Maker (Corey MacPherson) rounds out the field with post 4 for Greg MacInnis.
The Backstretch Beat lands on Batterup Hanover to win it all.
“Batterup Hanover never got involved his last start in Charlottetown but was exceptional every trip in Truro this season. We gave serious consideration to Time To Dance in here but it’s just his first start and Batterup Hanover is tight and racing well. This won’t be simple but we say he prevails.”
