CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – On a Friday evening (Sep. 15) program that was rescheduled from Thursday evening due to heavy rain, it was all Wednesday (Betterthancheddar) in track record fashion at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Two-year-old pacing filly Wednesday scored the fastest maiden breaking win in the history of the Charlottetown Driving Park as the filly protected the rail in her $2,300 non-winners of one race life class and eased through fractions of 28.4, 57.1 and 1:27 on her way to a 1:55.4 victory. The speedy mile tied the two-year-old pacing filly track record set by Mermaid Magic in 2021. Myles Heffernan Sr., was in the race bike behind Wednesday for trainer and owner Myles Heffernan Jr., of Summerville.

WEDNESDAY REPLAY

The Friday program also featured a pair of All Star Cresting Prospect Trot Series divisions. Gettin Lit scored a 16-1 upset in his division in 2:02.4 for trainer-driver Mike McGuigan while Oceanview Chip (Driven by Ken Murphy) won his assignment in 2:02.4 in another $3,200 class from the Melissa Rennie barn. Rennie had a training double on the program as Ms Moyse (Mark Bradley) closed out the card in 1:57.1 in the race 12 finale.

David Dowling had a driving triple on the night as the Springvale driver won with Stonecold Girl (1:58.2) from his own barn and with the Ron Matheson trained duo of Stealing Bases (2:00.1) and Outrageous Song (1:56).

Jason Hughes also tripled up winning with Alejandra Hanover (1:58) from his Charlottetown operation, Whole Nother (1:59) for trainer Ted Smallwood and Better Be In Love (1:55.2) from the Brendan Mullen barn.

With the impending impact of Hurricane Lee, the next live program at Red Shores Charlottetown has been moved to Monday evening with a 6 P.M. post time, while Red Shores Summerside continues Tuesday evening at 6 P.M.
