Charlottetown, PE – Red Shores and the PEI Harness Racing Industry Association are pleased to announce several new additions to the summer and fall harness racing schedule for horse people and fans.
The month of June will see the return of the popular Drive for Home Series, presented by Hillside Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, which begins on Saturday June 3rd. The series, in support of the local industry, adds additional purse money and presentations to select races during the month.
Red Shores presents the new All Star Handicapping Challenge Saturdays in June featuring three of the sport’s top analysts with Robert Reid Jr, Dawn Lupul and Garnet Barnsdale providing their selections on the racing action. Fans will also have an opportunity to get engaged through the new Player’s Portal at redshores.ca.
The new Tuesday night race cards at Red Shores Summerside features a Bounce Back promotion. Customers who wager $20 or more on track will receive a 20% discount card for the West End Bar & Grill. The Tuesday night promotion will also include Spin to Win and off-track partnerships.
The PEI components of the Atlantic Invitational Series, which leads to the Premier’s Cup, begins with the Cecil Ladner Memorial Saturday June 24. Many of the region’s best Free For All horses will compete in this event, which is a prelude to the $35,000 Governor’s Plate presented by Summerside Chrysler Dodge and $100,000 Gold Cup & Saucer presented by Atlantic Lottery.
The new PEI Colt Stakes Graduate Series for 4 and 5-year-old horses and mares will be presented in July and August with the $9,500 Finals being held in September. The series is sponsored by Kays Wholesale and JD Marine & Diving Inc. in partnership with the breed development fund of the PEI Standardbred Breeders Association.
The Island Trot Challenge will be unveiled this season supported by the Fox Group. The series will showcase the top Trotters in action all summer leading to a Fall Finale on Atlantic Breeders Crown Sunday October 8th.
MacRae’s Backhoe & Trucking is proud to sponsor the Open Mares Final on Atlantic Breeders Crown Sunday with the Joe & Steven MacRae Memorial for $15,500. The company will also sponsor a Fall non-winners series with details to be announced later.

Red Shores at Charlottetown and Summerside will continue to focus on guest experience with the launch of the Stars Up Close where the last two races of the program will see the horses and drivers be picked up by the starting gate in front of the fans on the tarmac.
