The unstoppable Oney Hall upped his harness racing game again as the gelding won his seventh consecutive race on Monday (May 16) in the $45,500 Woodbine Mohawk Park Free-for-All Trot in a sizzling 1:51.1.
The son of Deweycheatumnhowe sought the lead as usual and forced Perfetto (Dagfin Henriksen) to take the pocket after a first turn duel that resulted in :27.1 speed for the opening panel. Oney Hall hit the half in :56.1, and regular reinsman Trevor Henry dropped the hammer, allowing the trotter to get five lengths away from his six rivals by three-quarters in a blazing 1:23.2.
Oney Hallās throttle remained full forward until mid-stretch, with only Pemberton (James MacDonald) gaining as the leader coasted through the finish in 1:51.1,Ā four-and-a-quarter lengths clear of his nearest foe. The clocking is the top trotting time in Canada this season.
Pemberton, making his first start since winning an Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final in 2020, closed for place over Perfetto. The winner paid $5.10.
ONEY HALL REPLAY
Oney Hall has not lost since February. The Robert McIntosh trainee has reigned in the Woodbine Mohawk Park top trotting class for its last six editions. The gelding has raked in $461,504 and won 27 of 86 career starts for Alan Leavitt of Lexington. Two more wins at this level will see Oney Hall surpass half a million in earnings.
Racing resumes at Woodbine Mohawk Park at 7:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday, May 19.
