Lets Tie One On (Vertical Horizon) and Shoot The Whiskey (Shadow Play) extended their undefeated status through the third legs of the Robert Murphy Memorial and Mary Murphy, respectively, on Monday (Oct. 24) at Fraser Downs.
Lets Tie One On (Scott Knight) was the first to triple up, taking the first division of the Robert Murphy Memorial for sophomore pacing males in 1:54. Joe Dimagio (Kelly Hoerdt) was second-best. Minnekhada Joe (Brandon Campbell) finished third.

The winner, a Christopher Lancaster trainee, has won 10 of his 22 starts to date, including the Alberta Sires Stakes Marksman final. Derek Gilbert of Brandon and Kelly Hoerdt of Beamont own the colt, who has brought in $138,348.
Joe Rich (Custard The Dragon, Campbell) held off Itll Be Fine (Richard Lancaster) by a head to capture the second division in 1:54.2. Chuck You Farlie (Hoerdt) was third.

Shoot The Whiskey (Campbell) gained relentlessly down the stretch to nail Tin Foil Hat (Hoerdt) on the line to win the second split of the Mary Murphy for three-year-old pacing fillies in 1:56.4. Angelsonthehorizon (Dave Hudon) took show.

It was the 11th lifetime tally for Shoot The Whiskey, whom Marino also trains and co-owns with J J J Stables. The filly has banked $108,928 in 18 outings, including wins in the Penny Bath Memorial and Fraser Miss Open.
Shes Bodacious (Custard The Dragon) led throughout to land a 15-1 upset in the first Mary Murphy group in 1:56.4. River Boat Rosie (Hoerdt) pressured the winner but was a neck short at the line. Gotta Wear Shades (John Vukelich) was two lengths back in third.
