Raising Rusty (Kadabra) repeated his career-best time in an upset fourth Preferred-Handicap victory of the harness racing season at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday (Sep. 7).
Off at 10-1, he resided in the three-hole through the first half with panels of :27.1 and :56.4 provided by Duke Lavictoire (Pascal Berube). Stephane Pouliot directed Raising Rusty to the outside as they turned for the backstretch, and the gelding pulled abreast of the leader at three-quarters in 1:25.1.
Raising Rusty climbed to the front around the far turn, kicked away down the stretch, and completed the victory with a two-length cushion in 1:54.4.
Crossfit (Guy Gagnon) followed the winnerās cover to a place finish over Shadrack Hanover (Samuel Fillion).
