CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Trotting Thursdays continue this week at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park with the Home Hardware Maritime Breeder’s stake for two and three-year-olds.
The Thursday program kicks off at 6 P.M. featuring 13-races including four harness racing divisions of the Home Hardware Maritime Breeder’s stake.
The first Home Hardware Maritime Breeder’s division is in race 2 for two-year-old trotting fillies for a $7,450 purse. Berts Legacy is the top choice from post 4 for driver Paul Lanigan, trainer William Lanigan and owner Bob Honkoop of Alliston.Ā The Tad The Stud filly has yet to see the winner’s circle but sports a pair of second place finishes this season.
The other two-year-old Maritime Breeder’s division is in race 7 for trotting colts with Headline Howie the top choice from post 6 in the $8,000 class. Mike McGuigan trains and drives the Armbro Barrister colt for owner Jamie Whalen of Avondale.
The Maritime Breeder’s for three-year-old trot fillies goes postward in race 6 for a $7,360 purse. Galeowind is the early favourite from post 5 for trainer-driver Marc Campbell and owner Michael Bailey of Morell fresh off a 2:03.1 maiden breaking win against the colts her last start.
The top event lines up in race 4 as the deep rivalry resumes in the three-year-old trotting colt division for a $7,180 pot. Dusty Lane Milo has rail control for trainer Jeff Holmes, driver Gilles Barrieau and owner Marsha Knox of Stanhope. His main rivals are post 3 starter Mr Finlay Ridge (Driven by Clare MacDonald) and post 4’s A Little Go Go (Campbell). Dusty Lane Milo is the top selection in Thursday’s Post Time Picks by Peter MacPhee.
“How’s Dusty Lane Milo’s year going so far? He’s a perfect six for six in top three finishes and already has a couple of wins on his program. Gets rail control and Gilles will be aiming for the front so it could be picture time.”
Race 12 is the fillies and mares preferred pace for a $2,900 purse with track record holder Dreamfair Zenfire the morning line favourite for trainer-driver Campbell.
