CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – With a powerful brush in the final quarter, Tobins Brownie (Stonebridge Terror) exploded past her rivals in the Thursday evening (May 23) harness racing feature pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
David Dowling supplied the steer aboard his trainee as Tobins Brownie won her third straight $3,700 Fillies and Mares Preferred pace, stopping the clock in 1:56.4. She sat fourth in the feature then moved to the outside in the final quarter to unleash an individually timed 27.4 final panel to win over Rosetown Mary (Driven by Corey MacPherson) and pacesetter Share The Moment (Gilles Barrieau). Brittany Dowling of Springvale shares ownership of the winning mare with Sandra Weeks and Erroll Burgoyne.
It was a training-driving double for Dowling, who won earlier on the card with Two Points in 1:56.
Marc Campbell had the hot hands on the evening with a trio of winners. The Orwell driver won with Bettim Jackie (1:56.1) for trainer Jeff Lilley, Pendleton Rodeo (1:56.4) for trainer Brent Campbell and with Plain Jane (1:56.1) for his son Landon Campbell’s first lifetime training victory. Plain Jane has been full of milestone moments for the Campbell clan as she also supplied the elder Campbell with his 3,000th lifetime driving win.
Live racing continues Saturday evening at 6 P.M. at Red Shores Charlottetown featuring the Atlantic Regional Driving Championship.
