CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Dreamfair Zenfire fell short last week but will search for her harness racing track record mojo as Marc Campbell returns to the race bike in the Saturday afternoon featured pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 10-dash Saturday presentation kicks off at 12:30 P.M. with Dreamfair Zenfire shouldered with post 5 in the race 9 Fillies and Mares Preferred pace carrying a $3,100 purse. Marc Campbell will drive his trainee for owners Ryan and Everett MacLeod of Souris as she looks for win number 16 of the season.
Former track record holder Ladylike has post 3 with David Dowling driving for trainer Colin Johnson as second choice on the morning line while Ms Moyse has rail control with Adam Merner in the seat. Also in the field are Filly Forty Seven (Jason Hughes) and Better Be In Love (Dale Spence).
Peter MacPhee takes Dreamfair Zenfire on top of his Post Time Picks. “Dreamfair Zenfire led for a long way last week before tiring in the stretch and fading to a fifth-place finish. Don’t forget she knows how to win, and Marc returns so there’s a good chance they get win number sweet 16 today.”
Glider Man is selected to win the trot class in race 4 with $2,200 at stake. Merner drives the Jennifer Doyle trainee from post 5 against other top entries Labero (Dowling) and Incredible Two (Hughes).

‘Fancy’ & ‘Bugsy’ square off in CharlottetownĀ
CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Somewhere Fancy is no stranger to Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park and he returns to the fray in the Sunday afternoon preferred pace.
The 10-year-old son of Somebeachsomewhere has rail control in the $3,400 preferred pace which is carded as race 10 of the day. The Capital oval has 11-dashes scheduled for a 12:30 P.M. opening post time on Sunday.
Marc Campbell will drive 2018 Gold Cup and Saucer champion Somewhere Fancy for trainer Chris MacKay and owner John Mehlenbacher of Oakville, Ont. The pacer will be searching for career win number 58 on Sunday while adding to his $850,971 in career earnings.
Bugsy Maguire leaves from post 2 for trainer Wade Sorrie and driver Dale Spence after the Bettors Delight seven-year-old visited the winner’s circle in this class last week. Their competition includes Moonwriter (To be driven by David Dowling), Screen Test (Corey MacPherson) and Chocolate Swirl (Adam Merner).
The Post Time Picks sees Somewhere Fancy as the post time favourite but will opt to take Bugsy Maguire on top this week. “The rail horse will be drawing the majority of the wager but with him not racing in over a month we’re going to look elsewhere for a start, and we’ll land on Bugsy Maguire to pound out a repeat victory.”
Race 3 of the day sees a pair of newcomers to Island racing with Bonitas Sunshine leaving from post 2 for driver Ken Murphy, trainer Clifford Murphy and owner Boyde White of Charlottetown. The Sunshine Beach three-year-old was racing at Rideau Carleton Raceway outside Ottawa where he took his 1:56.4 lifetime best.
Tradition is another fresh face with post 3 in the class for trainer-driver Gordie Hennessey and owners Gisele Bernard and Lori Hennessey. The Always B Miki sophomore was racing at Flamboro Downs in Ontario.
