CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Rockabilly Rebel N (A Rocknroll Dance) will control his own harness racing destiny in the Friday evening (Aug. 18) James (Roach) MacGregor Gold Cup and Saucer consolation, presented by The Guardian, at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park as Old Home Week continues.
The historic half-miler has 14-dashes to offer starting at 7 P.M. Friday evening.
Rockabilly Rebel N leaves from post 1 in the $30,000 MacGregor consolation race after a fourth-place finish in Trial 1 last Saturday night. David Dowling is back in the bike for trainer Colin Johnson and owners Brad Grant of Ontario and Ecurie Csl of Quebec. The New Zealand-bred is a two-time winner in 2023 including a 1:49.2 score over Hoosier Park in Indiana.
Bonus Round (Santanna Blue Chip) has the second fastest chartline in Trial action, behind Rockabilly Rebel N, and he did that 1:51.4 clocking while making a break in stride in Trial 1. Dave Kelly Jr., trains and drives the redemption seeker who came East from his Alberta base with post 4 Friday.
Kelly’s younger brother Colin Kelly also competes in the event while driving post 8 starter Bayfield Beach (Somebeachsomehwere) for trainer Victor Puddy. Colin is one of the top drivers on the Ontario B-circuit after leaving his native Cape Breton, N.S., in 2016.

Nova Scotia pacer Batterup Hanover (Betting Line) gets post 3 for trainer-driver Paul Langille. He finished fourth in Gold Cup and Saucer Trial 3 Monday evening.
Also in the field are YS Mathis (by Sportswriter) To be driven by Marc Campbell), No Plan Intended (Up The Credit, Jason Hughes), Bettim Again (Malicious, Gilles Barrieau) and Repeal Or Replace (So Surreal, Myles Heffernan Sr.).
The Post Time Picks like Rockabilly Rebel N to get it all.
“Rockabilly Rebel N was storming on the end of it in Trial one and if you need more proof have a look at that closing quarter. The good news is he lands on the rail and with the way he can fly home we think he wins the James MacGregor Memorial.”
The program also features the Lady Slipper stake for three-year-old pacing fillies.
