Saulsbrook Victor (Source Of Pride) turned up to Woodbine Mohawk Park with a big harness raing performance on Saturday (Apr. 22) to take the $42,000 Free For All Pace after game losses in two straight weeks.
He took the lead he would never relinquish in a flash and cruised through opening panels of :27 and :56. Driver Austin Sorrie produced more speed to three-quarters in 1:24, and Saulsbrook Victor bolted for home coming off the final turn. Wheels On Fire (Doug McNair) remained present in the rear-view mirror, but it was all Saulsbrook Victor as the gelding completed the win in 1:50.4. Wheels On Fire cut the margin down to two-and-a-half lengths in second. Momas Son Byrne (Jonathan Drury) was third.
SAULSBROOK VICTOR REPLAY
Saulsbrook Victor started the year with three straight Preferred wins and has missed the board only once at the top level in 11 outings. He won two Free For Alls in a row in March but missed narrowly in both of his prior April starts. Ronald MacDonald trains the gelding, who is now 15-for-67 lifetime with a bankroll of $337,405.Ā Brett MacDonald of Freelton and Brent Maclennan of Charlottetown co-own the five-year-old.
Woodbine Mohawk Park races next on Monday, Apr. 24.
