Save America smashes rival with quick closing splits

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Save America (Captaintreacherous) was missionized in his Saturday evening harness racing assignment at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The former Gold Cup and Saucer entrant left alertly from post 5 in the $5,500 Preferred Pace and took over the lead from Island Beach Boy (Driven by Jason Hughes) at the quarter of 26.3. Driver Ken Murphy then smashed down fractions of 54.1 and 1:23.1 on his way to a 1:51 final time for Save America ($2.20) as Island Beach Boy hung on for second and Blood Money (Gilles Barrieau) was third. Jamie Smith trains the winner for owner Thestable.ca.

SAVE AMERICA REPLAY

Kenny Arsenault doubled up from his Charlottetown stable on the card as the veteran horseman steered Hippyjohn ($4.00) to victory in the race 5 The Freemason’s Pace in a 1:58.1 clocking and Redlandxtinguisher ($12.30) was a winner from his barn in line to Mark Bradley in race 2.

Marc Campbell had a driving quadruple as he drove Big Pond Cash ($26.50) to a 1:55.1 lifetime best, won with First Glance ($3.60) in 1:54.4 then closed out the card with Jewels Dragon ($3.50) in 1:56, all from the Landon Campbell barn. The driver also scored with Bentley ($3.40) for trainer John Clarey.

Trainer Luke Burke scored two wins with The Big Chase ($33.60) in 1:58.4 and One Rock ($2.10) in 1:57.2. Corey Macpherson supplied the winning steer for both pacers.
