Big Bad Jenn (Big Bad John) won her sixth consecutive harness racing contest on Friday (Apr. 28) over a sloppy surface at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
The claiming battle for her continued with Gerard Demers and La Ferme Tag taking her back for a $7,000 tag.
She rushed forward to take the front on the first turn for J. Bradley Harris and led through :28.3 and :58.3 fractions. Alyssa Marie (Garrett Rooney) attacked first-over and took a contested lead at three-quarters in 1:28.3. Big Bad Jenn kept the challenger parked around the final turn and eventually fought her off to secure the win in 1:59.2.
Alyssa Marie was second by a length. Bump In The Road (Travis Henry) proved third-best.
BIG BAD JENN REPLAY
Big Bad Jenn is perfect through her past six starts and has won 10 of her past 11. Stewart McQueen trained the mare and co-owned her with Lou Sorella and Donald MacLellan. They had her from November 2022 until April 18, when La Ferme Tag and trainer Gerard Demers claimed her. The former group took her back after a five-length win at Flamboro on Apr. 22, and Demers and La Ferme Tag reclaimed her from Fridayās race. The seven-year-old is 18-for-117 lifetime with $75,165 in earnings.
The Raceway at the Western Fair District will continue racing on Monday, May 1 at 5:50 p.m. EDT.
