CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Elm Grove Mistress (Articulator) does her best work on the front and will try to land on top of the Super Hi-5 during a special Tuesday (Jun. 21) evening harness racing program at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The capital oval has a 12-dash program scheduled for a 6:30 P.M. start with Elm Grove Mistress favored in the finale.
Damian MacLellan drives the Jennifer Doyle conditioned pacer from post 3 in the $2,700 contest as the seven-year-old is installed at 5-2 morning lines odds as the presumptive favourite. Doyle shares ownership of the 15-time winner with Danny Birt of Earnscliffe.
MacLellan has been off to a hot start in his rookie campaign with 11 wins from 42 starts and is taking aim at Austin Sorrie’s P.E.I. record of 32 wins in a rookie driving season.
Miami Seelster (State Treasurer) is off to a hot start in 2022 with three wins from five starts for the Colin Johnson stable with David Dowling in the race bike from post 4. Filly Forty Seven (Proven Lover) dead-heated for win her last start and has post 7 on Tuesday for trainer-driver Marc Campbell.
Peter MacPhee places Elm Grove Mistress as the most probable winner of the night in the Post Time Picks.
“Elm Grove Mistress has been excellent for the past six weeks and the numbers don’t lie,” MacPhee said. “Takes a slight dip and Damian will have her on the front foot so they could close the card with a win.”
Also in the Super Hi-5 field are Lyons Jennielee (by Somebeachsomewhere, to be driven by Ken Murphy), The Time To Win (Western Ideal, Mark Bradley), Michele Z Tam (American Ideal, Jason Hughes) and JM Sportsfan (Sportswriter, Steven Shepherd).
The featured Fillies and Mares Preferred pace hits the track in race 11 with Acefortyfour Dome pegged as the top choice after a 1:54.3 victory her last start for trainer-driver Hughes and owner Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge. Her top rivals in the $3,200 pace are slated as Share The Moment (Gilles Barrieau) and Dreamfair Zenfire (Campbell).
Daisy River (Hughes) is the top choice in the $2,800 Open Trot over Incredible Two (Kenny Arsenault) and Sailor Blue (Murphy).
