CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Tobins Brownie (Stonebridge Terror) was a frontrunner to harness racing victory in the P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series Gold Final, presented by JD Marine & Diving Inc., on Thursday at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Tobins Brownie

The $16,000 Graduate Series Gold Final in race 4 had Atlantic star Tobins Brownie ($6.10) and trainer-driver Adam Merner controlling every step from the rail to win in 1:55.1. She pulled away late by three-quarters of a length over Rosetown Mary (Driven by Corey MacPherson) while Galway Girl (Marc Campbell) completed the three-horse order of finish. Owned by Brittany Watts and Sandra Weeks of Springvale, the winning daughter of Stonebridge Terror solidified her career-long consistency with win number 40 from 131 lifetime starts.

The $10,400 Graduate Series Grassroots Final went as race 9 and belonged to Windemere Saddy ($3.40) as MacPherson guided the Saul Lanigan trainee to a powerful 1:55.4 score. The four-year-old daughter of Malicious held off Freaky Fanny (Darren Crowe) and Magnificent Mia (Gilles Barrieau) to secure the crown for owners Shane Esson, Saul Lanigan, Darcy Doyle and Isaac Schurman.

The $6,000 Graduate Series Grassroots Consolation in race 7 saw Princess Halo ($13.10) and Ken Murphy dictate the tempo and fend off all challengers in 1:57.3. The Garth Cole trainee prevailed over Saulsbrook Annie (David Dowling) and Stonebeachlily (Colin Sheppard) for owners Cole and Alfred Baglole of Freetown.

The $6,500 Island Oceans Trot Challenge division in race 11 had Favoured Buckhead Ridge ($2.50) and driver Marc Campbell on top in 1:56.4 for owner Brady Doyle and trainer Landon Campbell.

Watch Me Shake It ($3.70) won the Workers Compensation Board of PEI Pace in 1:58 for trainer-driver Kenny Arsenault.

Marc Campbell guided Tells Bells ($3.90) for an open-length score in race 10 to give young owner Isaac McGuigan his first career win. McGuigan owns the 1:56 winner in partnership with Tim Dickieson with father Mike McGuigan handling the training duties.

Trainer Jennifer Doyle, Kevin MacLean and Landon Campbell all notched training doubles on the 14-dash card. Gilles Barrieau was a four-time visitor to the winner’s circle as a driver.
