The Derby weekend celebration at Kincsem Park in Budapest featured Derby races for the harness racing trotters, greyhounds and gallops along with great festivities for the family and a beauty contest. The crowds were large, enthusiastic and well dressed.
The Saturday racing card featured the 108th edition of the Hungarian Trotting Derby (Magyar Ugetoderby, purse 14,000,000Huf or 34,860ā¬, 2500 meters autostart for four year olds). The 3.9/1 odds Csak a szel (4f Ken Warkentin-Nana-Tony Oaks) rallied to victory handled by her trainer Imre Fazekas.
Timed in 1.18.2kr the winner recorded her seventh career victory in 15 starts and more than doubled her career earnings that now stands at 13,830,000Huf. The 63/1 outsider Chip Chip Chip (4m Uclipse Boko) was second for trainer/driver Lajos Marton and 4.8/1 Catonia R (4g One Too Many) landed third money for Marko Slavic.

The undercard was a good one this day. The Tippmax Pannonia DIJ (purse 3,000,000Huf, 1800 meters autostart) went to 1.15.1kr timed and 13/1 Borutka (5f Illetmeny-Night Lady) with trainer Tibor Hajnal aboard.
She won the 2021 Derby, and her sire and dam were major stake winners. Alfa Boy and Be Happy trailed the winner.
In the Connollyās Red Mills (purse 3,000,000Huf, 1800 meters autostart for three year olds) the 7.6/1 Dynamo (3m Maharajah-Nothing Compares MS) was victorious with Thorsten Tietz at the lines for trainer Robert Gramuller. He was clocked in 1.18.1kr and defeated Diana Gull and Dany Devito.
Fast class aged performers contested the Jozsef Sinka Memorial (purse 1,500,000Huf, 1800 meters autostart). Here the well-regarded Unno del Duomo (9m Ganymede-Irna del Duomo) scored in 1.14.5kr for trainer/driver Goran Zolnaji. Adriana Asti was second followed by Il Duce Boko.
