The top younger trotters in Hungary matched strides for attractive purses at Kincsem Park (Budapest). The two year-olds contested the Janos Szalay Memorial (purse 2,000,000HUf, 1800 meters autostart) with victory earned by 3.4/1 Fabrice (2m Maximus Lindy-Noraville-Tony Oaks) with Imre Fazekas driving.
Bernadett Balogh trains this colt for owner/breeder Prolongo Import Export Kft. As he won in his maiden start timed in 1.19.3kr. This was a race record, previously held by Zeal du Girifalco established in 2017. The 2.4/1 Fantastic Love (2f Nuncio-Ellane Merite-Timoko) held second driven by trainer Bernadett Balogh for Prolongo. Fendi (2f Oasis Bi-Celebrity Venus-Angus Hall) was third at 4.3/1 odds for trainer/driver Balazs Juhasz. The winner was named for FR trainer Fabrice Souloy who also qualified these Prolongo Import Export Kft. Youngsters recently.
Before the next featured event was the Jungfrau DIJ (purse 700,000HUf, 1900 meters autostart) for fast class veterans. Here the 2.2/1 odds Digital Races (6m Super Photo Kosmos-Paired-Scarlet Knight) scored from post five, advancing from fourth at the midway point, to win in a quick 1.14.2kr with Imre Fazekas aboard. Again, the trainer is Bernadett Balogh for Prolongo, as Digital Races won his first start in 2023 after three wins in as many starts last year in HU. Bonaparte Boss (6g Napoleon) was second for Veljko Mazsity and Unno del Duomo (10m Ganymede) reined by Goran Zolnaji.
The Istva Szent DIJ (purse 3,000,000HUf, 1960 meters distance handicap) was next as it showcased the best three through five year-olds racing locally. The 4.4/1 odds Eternal Flame (3m Maximus Lindy-Rubin Lady-Wall Street Banker) scored in 1.18.3kr for Joze Sagaz. Andor Angyal trains the winner that defeated 60 meter handicapped Catania R (5g One Too Many-Campala RAL-Toss Out) reined by Marko Slavic. El Diablo (3m Milliondollar Lux=Mellby Éclair-From Above) captured third for driver Balazs Juhasz. Last year Bonaparte Boss captured this event in 1.16.6kr and the race record is owned by Ujrazz! of 1.15.9kr set in 2019.
