On North American harness racing tracks it’s all about speed over a mile trip, in Australia it’s a mix of both standing start and mobile features across a range of track sizes, in New Zealand it could be about an extreme two-mile contest or a grass track race featuring non-race winners and in Europe the champion trotter is celebrated as a king of the track.
In Harnesslink Race Replays of the Week we bring you a snapshot into the very best contests from around the harness racing tracks of the world.
CANADIAN REPLAY
It’s not often that horses win at close to 50/1 but an outsider at those sort of odds proved a little too slick for race rivals at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday. Nicholas Barnsdale reported on Kiera Seelster , driven by Jonathan Drury, who took them all by surprise in Harvest Series Final action, scoring well in 1.53.1 to take the win from Rocks Shadow and Definingthe Moment.
AUSTRALIAN REPLAY
Tony Milanese reported on the Club Menangle Arizona Blue two-year-old trotters final on Saturday night. The competitive final went the way of the Volstead gelding in Lotus Louise. The win was emphatic enough, scoring well over San Juan Mountain with Jackies Gift.
The 1.57.4 for the 1609 meters was not far from Aldebaran Ursula’s track record of 1.56.8 set in October 2020. You can watch all the action below.
NEW ZEALAND REPLAY
You might want to pencil in the name Always B Paulie into the black book for times to come. Bruce Stewart reported on the impressive debut winner recently, the Craig Ferguson trained runner strode away from race rivals over the concluding stages after finding the front early at Ascot Park.
The nature of the win, and the fact that the horse comes with something of a reputation, is sure to give connections confidence going forward with the son of Always B Miki.
