On the back of getting what he liked at the National Yearling Sales, Tom Bagrie will be hoping for the same at Rangiora on Sunday.
The harness racing trainer did his homework and bagged a Bettorās Delight colt with a $95,000 price tag at Christchurch last month.
This week Bagrie will line up two horses at Rangiora with direct links to the sales.
Sueās Dash (Trixton) will attempt back-to-back victories for the Bagrie barn in race 4 on Sunday.
The trotter joined Bagrie after he liked what he saw in one of her relatives at last yearās sale.
āLast year we bought the half-brother and I just happened to ask them what the sister was doing.ā
āThey said she was in the paddock and had been broken in but she hadnāt done much else.ā
āThey offered me her to train and she has just kept on improving.ā
āSheās got a pretty clean gait and she wants to be there.ā
Bagrie targeted Sundayās race following Sueās Dashās maiden win as it is for one-win trotters only.
The trainer hopes his charge can take advantage of those conditions.
āThey have started to put on a few one-win trots which is quite good.ā
āSometimes coming out of maidens you have to race horses that have won quite a few races and it is never easy.ā
āWe picked out this race because it is one win only and hopefully it pays off.ā
Bagrie also lines up Millwood Goddess in race 3 on Sunday.
The filly was sourced by her trainer from the National Yearling Sales in 2021.
Millwood Goddess heads into Sundayās race after impressing in her debut 2nd at Addington.
āShe is a nice filly.ā
āShe doesnāt have the cleanest gait, she is a bit of a rough goer but she wants to be there.ā
āThis time in she has taken a bit to get going, we gave her a few trials and made sure she was ready to go.ā
āThe second first-up was perfect for her, she was in the field and she got along the passing lane and was beaten by one that was better on the night.ā
āThe draw (8) makes it hard with no second line, you have got to be in to have a crack.ā
āHaving Johnny Dunn driving is a big help.ā
John Dunn also combines with Sueās Dash on Sunday.
Sueās Dash opened at a $5 fixed odds quote with Millwood Goddess at a $4.80 early price.
