Harness Racing trainers Cran and Chrissie Dalgety have a handful of quality stock down to race at Monday’s Ashburton meeting.
Sweet Coco (Sweet Lou) takes her place in the seventh heat of the Nevele R Fillies Series (Race Six). She faces a strong field but gets a nice draw at two for the 1700 metre mobile. She was run down late by champion filly Millwood Nike (Captaintreacherous) at her last start.
The Dalgetys have two runners in the Two Year Old Sire Stakes Series for colts and geldings.
Watermelon Sugar (Sweet Lou) draws the outside of the front line. The five win gelding got too far back at his last start at Addington last week.
Coney Island Lou (Sweet Lou) runs from the outside of the second line. At his last start he set up a scintillating Flying Stakes, finishing a close fifth. Cran has labelled Coney Island Lou as the stables best bet at Ashburton.
Last start winner Republican Party (Bettor’s Delight) is part of the eleven horse field in the Ashburton Flying Stakes raced from the stand over 2400 metres. Most of his wins have been from behind the mobile but he’s had three runs from the stand for a win and a place.
