Down Under Winners with Carter Dalgety

It was a big day at Dover Downs for down under races horses to round out a successful harness racing year. The action out of the Delaware racetrack was competitive with a 14 race card, resulting in five races being won by down under pacers. 

It all kicked off early with hot favourite Justasec N when he roared out of gate no2 to lead and win for trainer Timmie Griffith and driver Tim Tetrick. Driven positively out in front by Tetrick, the Big Jim gelding crossed the wire in 1:52.0.

Tyronsbitoflemon N was next up in a $12,500 Pace. This 5yo gelding was also sent forward hard out of the starting gate to find the lead and stay there all along. Driver Art Stafford Jr steered the pacer for trainer Joshua Parker. 

Backing straight up in the next race was the same winning combination of trainer Timmie Griffith and driver Tim Tetrick. The pair sent around Thatswhatisaid N. Drawing the pole position the 7yo gelding was handled patiently early by being crossed when settling. But around the three quarters mark (1200m) they creeped closer and put up a brave fight in the stretch to win in 1:52.3.

Well-bred stallion Never Say Never N produced a great performance in the $16,000 Pace. The Bettors Delight son was slotted in for cover early by driver Pat Berry. Later making moves the 8yo wore down the leaders in a tough win clocking 1:54.2 for trainer A Bobby Glassmeyer. 

Rounding out the day in the $32,500 Feature Pace it was the very talented Shoobee Doo A. Driven by Corey Callahan and trainer by Dylan Davis, the 6yo gelding was blasted out of gate 5 to find the lead. Holding it throughout, coming into the stretch there was major challenges but the down under pacer dug deep to win in 1:50.4.
