Due to Auckland’s record rainfall and unforeseen weather events over the past few weeks, NZB Standardbred and Auckland Trotting Club have made the decision to move the 2023 Harness Million Series Meeting for harness racing three-year-olds to Cambridge Raceway.

The Harness Million Series Meeting date will remain the same, taking place on Friday 17 February, two days before NZB Standardbred’s 2023 National Yearling Sale in Auckland and Christchurch.

NZB Standardbred Manager Cam Bray is optimistic about the change in venue for one of the feature events on New Zealand Harness Racing’s calendar.

“Unfortunately, the track infrastructure at Alexandra Park did not withstand the Auckland floods, forcing NZB Standardbred and Auckland Trotting Club to move this year’s Harness Million Series Meeting to Cambridge.”

“We are pleased to be able to with a progressive Club such as Cambridge Raceway, who have come to the fore during a challenging time for the industry.

“We appreciate their flexibility and willingness to host our event at such short notice.”

Dave Branch, Chief Executive Officer of Cambridge Raceway, commented on the move to the Waikato-based track.

“We know that the sudden change in venue from Alexandra Park has occurred under less than ideal circumstances.”

“However, both myself and the entire Cambridge Raceway team are committed to pulling out all the stops to ensure the 2023 3YO Harness Million Series meeting runs smoothly in the Waikato.

“We are looking forward to collaborating with NZB Standardbred for this exciting event,” he said.

The $150,000 Listed NZB Standardbred Harness Million 3YO Fillies Final (2200m) will be run as Race 5, while the $200,000 Listed NZB Standardbred Harness Million 3YO Colts & Geldings Final (2200m) will be run as Race 6 at Cambridge Raceway on Friday 17 February.

Cambridge Raceway will offer an array of hospitality and ticketing options available for harness racing enthusiasts on the night. View Cambridge Raceway’s ticketing options click here.
